History of the Dental Center

The History of the Center: Pioneering Excellence Since 1978

The journey of our dental center began in 1978, and from the outset, Professor Roberto Conte displayed a fervent passion for innovation in the dental field. As he delved into the surgical aspects, his interest particularly gravitated towards pure surgical techniques in implantology. Intrigued by dental implants, he attended courses led by pioneers in the field. In the image, you can see him alongside Prof. Branemark, exploring the concept of subperiosteal dental implants, a surgical grid replacing implants inserted into the jawbones with a skeletal mesh in the mandible, covered with periosteum and gums. Though innovative for its time, further advancements were evidently needed.

The focus shifted towards the study of another cranial area—the pterygoid process. Professor Conte realized that by exploring and utilizing the pterygoid palatine bone, it might be possible to address the challenging issues of posterior atrophies in the upper jaw. Thus, he dedicated numerous years to studying the pterygoid process, leading to the development of a groundbreaking technique—Galileus Cerclage Sinus®. This technique has proven to be a definitive solution for severe posterior atrophies, sidestepping both grafts and lifts in a single stroke.

After extensive dissections and gaining a profound understanding of cranial anatomy, Prof. Conte delved into the pterygoid implant, extending it from 19 to 21 mm to reach the cortical laminae of the sphenoid bone. Anchoring itself in this pterygoid section, the implant ensures stable, strong, and fixed mastication for the next 20-30 years. The completion of this technique, coupled with the assistance of a transversal nasal implant, marked the culmination of a comprehensive solution. The technique was officially registered, and Professor Conte now owns the trademark for the Galileus Cerclage Sinus® surgical procedure.

Collaborating with a skilled prosthetic technician for over 40 years, the professor’s dedication to implant surgery allowed for the development of prosthetics tailored to this unique implantation technique. Initially pioneering makeshift solutions, the technician now crafts superior prosthetics, both aesthetically and functionally. Today, the result is a fixed ceramic dental prosthesis, meticulously handmade, tailored, and devoid of false gums, exclusively designed for the Galileus Cerclage Sinus® surgical technique.

This duo—surgical and prosthetic—is unrivaled, offering a technique that excels in every aspect. Notably, it provides both frontal and posterior support, allowing the normal functioning of posterior teeth. For those seeking an avant-garde solution without compromises, maximal implant support, and comprehensive coverage of strategic areas in the upper jaw for both implant support and functional chewing, the Galileus Cerclage Sinus® technique stands out. If you desire both formidable aesthetics and functionality, this technique, showcased in our results, may be precisely what you’re seeking.
